You might want to hear JansZen speakers for yourself before deciding what to do next -- we hope buy a pair, of course. Some dealers still have their demonstration pairs available*, but if you do not want to take advantage of the 30 day home trial, then you will need to hear an audition.
We try to offer everyone two options:
listen at an existing owner's home; this depends on a willing owner living close enough to you for a visit, and you being willing to visit, but can be quite practical;
rent a pair for a couple of weeks.
In your home
If you'd like to hear JansZen speakers for a while in your own home, we offer in-home auditions. We keep a few demonstration pairs at the plant or in circulation, and can send you the model you are interested in for a couple of weeks of listening. During this time, you will have full acess to David Janszen by phone, email, Skype, Facetime, and text, for comments and any assistance you might want.
Chances are the demonstration pair will not have the exact configuration or finish you would select for purchase, but you will learn whether you like the sound, and how easy it is to make the speakers work well in your system.
Foreign auditions. For countries outside the USA, this offer might be available, depending on whether we have someone in your country to organize the shipping and hold onto the demonstration speakers between auditions. Call and we'll see what we can do.
Charges. The charge is 3.8% of the base price of the speakers you wish to audition. You will also be responsible for shipping costs, which vary from about $200 round trip for a pair of zA1.1 to Northeast USA, to about $500 round trip for a pair of zA2.1 to West Coast USA.
Credit toward purchase. If you decide to buy a pair afterward, the audition charge and half the round trip shipping will be applied to your order.
Buy the demos? Typically, the demo pair you recieve will not be available for purchase. We need to keep a few pairs in circulation that we can afford to let accumulate some minor cosmetic damage.
Speaking of damage, we expect the audition speakers to come back as close as possible to the condition they went out in. Minor damage we can fix pretty easily and won't charge for or mind too much. If there is substantial damage, though, we will have to charge for that. Shipping damage is covered by insurance.
At an owner's home
There are JansZen speaker owners, mostly in the USA but also around the world, who have let us know that they will be happy to host a listening session, as long as the timing is convenient and so on. These owners are Janszenthusiasts who simply enjoy sharing the amazing sound they get.
If you're interested, please call us and speak with David Janszen a bit about what you are looking for and so on, and let him know how far you are willing to travel. He'll check whether there's an owner available and let you know what happens.
This has worked out well for several people who have gone on to love their speakers, but even when an owner is available, it isn't for everyone, which is why we also offer in-home auditions.
